About DOROT’s Synagogue Partnerships
Working together with our synagogue partners, DOROT’s social workers use their expertise to respond to the evolving needs of older congregants and broaden the range of programs and services available to older adults, including opportunities for social engagement.
We currently partner with the following synagogues: Ansche Chesed, B’nai Jeshurun, Central Synagogue, Ohab Zedek, Park Avenue Synagogue, Romemu, SAJ, Temple Emanue-El, and West End Synagogue.
How We Partner with Synagogues
From in-home visits and short-term case assistance to support groups and lifelong learning, enrichment, and intergenerational programs, our synagogue social workers are dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults and to connecting congregants to DOROT’s highly-regarded programs and supportive resources. Our social workers are experts in the complicated landscape of aging and caregiving, and can address specific questions and concerns you may have with sensitivity and kindness.
DOROT’s synagogue social workers provide support to clergy, staff, and lay leaders through one-on-one consultations and committee support and trainings. We are an essential member of the care team in the synagogue, and work collaboratively to address the emotional, social, and practical needs of older adult congregants.
Volunteering at DOROT
DOROT also has a rich array of volunteer opportunities that can be done from the comfort of your home, in the community, or in our building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Our synagogue social workers can help connect you with these opportunities.
