Create a warm environment and a wonderful dinner for older adults in DOROT’s Homelessness Prevention Program who are or are at risk of becoming homeless. Cooking with DOROT engages a group of 8-10 adult volunteers per session. Together, volunteers prepare and serve a healthy meal.
Volunteer leaders assist in menu planning, as well as orienting and organizing other volunteers at the start of each session.
Time Commitment: Volunteer 1 Thursday afternoon a month, 2:30-5:30 PM, at the Homelessness Prevention Program kitchen on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Requirements: Valid, US government-issued photo ID; volunteer orientation; and a phone or in-person interview.
In an effort to protect the health and safety of all in our community, DOROT is not currently offering Cooking with DOROT. If you are a great cook and interested in preparing a meal to drop off for DOROT’s Homelessness Prevention Program participants, please contact us at
