Judith D. Fryer, Rabbi Mira Rivera and Marcie Imberman are the newest members of the DOROT Board of Directors. They joined the Board in early 2022.
A business lawyer in New York City for more than 40 years, Judith Fryer recently retired as a Principal Shareholder at the law firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. She represented many corporate boards and served on nonprofit boards during her highly successful career and dedicated much of her time to mentoring women. She served as President of the Women’s Forum of New York and former Chair of the UJA/Federation Women’s Executive Circle and President of ABA Women Rainmakers. Judith has volunteered at DOROT as a Friendly Visitor and has participated in the Package Delivery and Cemetery Visit programs.
Rabbi Mira Rivera joins the Board as a celebrated rabbi, mentor of Jews who identify as Jews of Color through Ammud: The Jews of Color Torah Academy and advocate for racial and economic justice. She received ordination at The Jewish Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Jewish Studies in 2015. Following chaplain residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital and the first Rabbi Chaplain community fellowship at DOROT, she joined the clergy team of Romemu as their Board-Certified Chaplain, community outreach, and Morning Minyan prayer leader. Prior to becoming a rabbi, she danced with the Martha Graham Dance Company.
Marcie Imberman is a long-time DOROT volunteer, Jewish community leader and business leader in New York City. She started her career in children’s book publishing and in 1986 joined her family business, Kentshire Galleries, where she co-founded the antique jewelry department. Kentshire continues as a third-generation family business, now in the hands of her two children. She served on the board of Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope, Chair of UJA/Federation’s Women’s Executive Committee and Chair of the UJA Federation’s Aging Committee. She volunteers at DOROT as a Friendly Visitor and has delivered holiday meals and birthday packages to older adults.
