DOROT is proud of our long history of collaboration with social service organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, and more. Building and sustaining mutually beneficial community partnerships is key to our success. Working together, we engage more older adults, build a diverse community of social engagement, and strengthen our overall work.
DOROT is excited to partner with community organizations and schools in Queens’ 6th Congressional District to offer programs for older adults that build social connections across generations and meaningful opportunities for volunteers. We have a long and successful track record in building collaborative partnerships that are mutually beneficial and complement our partners’ work. If you are an organization with deep roots in the Queens community, let’s explore ways to work together!
The Pearls of Wisdom, a multicultural touring ensemble of elder storytellers, is now a treasured part of DOROT. The Pearls travel to schools and senior programs throughout NYC to promote the folk-art tradition of storytelling, inspire audiences to share stories of their own, and create intergenerational community engagement.
DOROT works with over 100 schools and youth organizations each year to engage elementary, middle school and high school students in meaningful intergenerational programming. We introduce them to volunteer opportunities that make a difference as well as intergenerational workshops and service-learning programs that connect them with older New Yorkers.
