From New York to Israel, DOROT's vision of alleviating social isolation and loneliness for older adults has a global reach!
DOROT Executive Director Mark Meridy, and Senior Program Officers, Ellen Amstutz, Judith Turner, and Ali Hodin-Baier recently met with Leonie Weinberg, Executive Assistant to the Deputy Consul General of Israel in New York, and Eran Schwartz, Deputy CEO of the Ministry of Social Equality in Israel, to discuss Israel’s National Loneliness Alleviation Plan.
We shared insights into our intergenerational program model, how we screen and match volunteers, and our successful in-person and virtual programming.
Israel, along with Japan and the UK, has created designated governmental entities to address loneliness.
