Are you looking for a fun, new way to connect with teens?
Look no further than GENuine Connections™, DOROT’s new virtual intergenerational program launched this fall. Adults 65+ and high school students from all over New York City are joining together over Zoom in small groups for weekly brain games, sensory art and storytelling workshops, music and meditation programs, and current event and book discussions.
The best part of GENuine Connections, according to program participants, is not the variety of programming or that you can participate from the comfort of your couch, it’s meeting new people and making connections that bring new perspectives.
“GENuine Connections is first and foremost fun, and then it’s eye-opening,” said Jane L., an Adult 65+ from Brooklyn who participates in creative reading, storytelling and sensory art. “We all have so much in common, despite our age differences and life experiences. They say to share is to care, and that’s what happens here.”
High school student Luke S. from Queens agrees. “I signed up because I needed community service credit and could do it from home. Easy. I had no idea how much fun it would be to meet other students and older people and talk, laugh, do stuff and hang out.”
One hour a week for eight weeks over Zoom is all it takes to open your world to new perspectives! Register for GENuine Connections today.
