Ensuring that older adults can cross the digital divide has never been more important! As a volunteer Tech Coach, you will support and guide late tech adopters 1:1 as they learn how to stay in touch with friends and loved ones, access information and learn tech skills.
The ideal volunteer is patient, comfortable with computers, tablets and/or smartphones, and enthusiastic about helping older people. DOROT provides orientation and training. No special expertise is required!
Visits are offered in the homes of older adults or at DOROT. You and your match may meet for a one-time session, or multiple visits depending on learning needs.
Visits focus on learning the basics of common technology devices or applications, such as Zoom, FaceTime, email, text or downloading and installing apps. Volunteers can assist with a smart phones, tablets or computers. Older adults who are already tech users can request help on specific tech questions, for example, organizing files and emails, or starting a social media account. DOROT's Technology guides are also available for selected topics.
