The Power of Connection: DOROT 's Mark Meridy Speaks at a Conference on Social Prescribing

DOROT's Executive Director Mark Meridy recently spoke at a summit hosted by UJA-Federation of New York —“The Power of Connection: Social Prescribing to Combat Isolation and Loneliness.”

This first-ever gathering on social prescribing looked at social, healthcare, and communal interventions that improve health outcomes for isolated and lonely individuals.

Meridy shared:

"It was an honor to talk about DOROT’s mission and program model. Conversations like these are critical to helping grow the nascent movement for social prescribing in the U.S.

At DOROT, we know that social connection is essential to the health and wellbeing of people at every age. It is so important to take a wider view of our health system and transition to Age Friendly Health Systems, where medical practitioners treat older adults not just by prescribing tests and medications but offering a social prescription for living an active and socially connected life.

We look forward to continuing to play a leadership role in addressing social isolation and loneliness."
